Interfaith picnic in Bridgewater
On Sunday evening, July 23, members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church gathered at a park in Bridgewater to break bread with people from Allen Chapel, the Temple House of Israel, and the Islamic Center of Shenandoah Valley. It is part of our congregation's "Know Your Neighbor" outreach initiative, aiming to build trust and understanding among various groups in our local community.
Sunday, June 4 was the Day of Pentecost, when we celebrate the manifestation of the Holy Spirit among the apostles following the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven. Many if not most church members wore the "fire" colors of red, orange, or yellow to church. Afterwards the church's "birthday" was celebrated with a special Pentecost cake!
New fellowship venue:
Emmanuel recently began a new coffee hour to encourage fellowship, called "Holy Grounds Cafe."
It takes place between our two Sunday services, from 8:45 to 9:45. Beverages and food are provided. Please join us!
May 14 was Youth Sunday, in which the children of Emmanuel played a leading role in the 10:30 worship service. Thanks to Mary Evans Lott, June Steger, and Eileen Frueh for making all the arrangements for the service.
WE PRAY FOR:
Mary Kay L.
For James R.missionary in Japan
NOTE: Please help the office by keeping us informed of the status of people you place on the prayer list.
Emmanuel "word cloud"
Thanks to Steven Cox for soliciting from parish members words that they thought best described our church congregation, and then compiling all of them into a "word cloud." Click on the image to see a full-size version. If that doesn't work, click here instead
